With the new school year beginning you probably just bought lots of brand new school supplies. But don’t throw out those old dried up markers just yet! Use them to create beautiful watercolors that will keep your kids busy for hours.
Place a little water in a cup. Place the open dried-up marker right into the water. You can use a few of the same colors or even similar colors. The longer you let it sit in the water the more pigmented it will become. It is best to start with a little water and increase, then to have too much.
For an even more intense color payoff: Pull the ends off the markers and remove the colored sponge inserts. Cut them in half (optional) and place into the cup with water. Since more of the sponge is exposed to the water, more of the color will be removed giving you more pigmented watercolors.
Now all you have to do is hand out paintbrushes and paper and let their creativity run wild!
