You see, I could have been cleaning since Chanukah, but I would end up looking like a dog trying to catch his tail. Forget about the kitchen pantry, no matter how much I clean it there is always a cracker or wafer hiding in there. Is there a trap door in there? Where my issue is, is in the bedrooms. Great, now you are thinking I am a total pig. The bedrooms? Don’t I eat at the table like a civilized human being? No. I don’t. I usually hide in my office next to my computer eating dinner while answering emails, hoping my kids are actually asleep and don’t need their hundredth cup of water.
Really though, it’s not my office that is the problem. You’ve probably guessed it by now. I’ll give you a hint. K…ids! Ok I told you. I blame my kids.
A few weeks ago I decided it would be a great idea to dedicate one room in my 4 bedroom apartment as a playroom. That way the toys would be a mess in there instead of my living/dining room. It was not a great idea. We could hardly open the door. My kids took such advantage of that room. They never cleaned up and from what I later learned, they hid lots of things in there.
And so my husband and I decided to put a stop to this “playroom” and turn it into an office and guest room like it should have been all along. It was a whole day project. I found things i’ve been looking for for ages. That’s where those measuring cups went! I knew I put the baby’s new pajamas somewhere! And after sweeping I found bags and bags of pretzels, packets of gum, and their favorite- half eaten wafers.
How did I let it get this far!?
Here I was thinking I had this brilliant, full-proof idea only to find out it was a total fail.
That’s why I surely am the “Almost Perfect Housewife.” Thinking I got it all together, or at least pretending to, but really I am just trying to stay afloat.
As for Pesach cleaning? We decided to get out of that by taking a nice relaxing trip 5,000 miles away, two flights, one long stopover with 4 kids to sunny Florida…at my in laws.
Stay tuned for more from “The Almost Perfect Housewife.” There is so much to share. This is only the beginning…
